Movies I’m looking forward to in 2013!

In watching the previews of upcoming movies, some have stood out that I’m really looking forward to seeing on the big screen, so I thought that I would share them here with you. So here’s my picks of the best upcoming movies for 2013, at least so far…..

“OBLIVION”– IMAX on April 12, 2013 and other theaters April 19.
Synopsis
Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind. Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues an attractive female stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything.

“After Earth”– June 7th, 2013Synopsis-
A crash landing on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events that forced humanity to abandon the planet, leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. The father and son must learn to work together and learn to trust one another if they want any chance of escaping Earth and returning home.

“The Host”– March 29, 2013
Synopsis- A love story set in the future, where Earth is occupied by a species who erase the minds of their human hosts, leaving their bodies intact. Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is one of the last surviving humans who fights back, risking her life for the people she cares about most– Jared (Max Irons), Ian, (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) — Proving that love CAN conquer all.

“Jack The Giant Slayer”– March 1st, 2013
Synopsis- An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

“Man of Steel”– June 14, 2013
Synopsis- Who doesn’t know the story of Superman? Next summer, “Man of Steel” is coming to the big screen. The film is from director Zack Snyder and producers Charles Roven, Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Comics.

“Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe.

“Oz The Great and Powerful”– March 8, 2013
Synopsis- The story of how “The Wizard of Oz” became the wizard we all know and love from the wonderful Frank Baum classic! Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. At first he thinks he’s hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking. That all changes, however, when he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry- Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

And those are the movies that I am looking forward to in the first part of 2013! I’m sure there will be many more exciting and wonderful movies coming out! And we have the second installment of THE HOBBIT to look forward to, as well as Ironman 3 on May 3rd, Star Trek 2 on May 17, and many more!
